  County leaders should consider packing away the exhibit after the close of the fair and re-using it next year.

  We all do the same with our holiday decorations, don't we? The money that would be saved could come close to fund a social worker, probation officer, or sheriff's deputy position, all of which are sorely needed to meet the needs of county residents.

  I suggest that County and City agencies post as public data online as possible. Ideally, the data should be in a machine readable format, posted in a timely manner, and at the lowest level possible (transactions, not summary reports).

  Examples of this are http://data.gov (at the federal level), http://datasf.org (at the city and county level), and http://nationaldatacatalog.com (by a nonprofit).

  Empowering citizens with public information is a benefit for all. Of course, there are privacy concerns to consider that can be addressed, but perhaps by following the lead of several government agencies that are already doing this, there is a path to follow toward open data.

  Recently, at a Vacaville City Council meeting, it was suggested that a 13 acre water retention pond on Pleasant Valley Road would be a good site for a dog park. They said it was water free most if not all the year. It would need pet friendly improvements, but we have alot of talented pet owners and we could try to secure funds through advertising at the park.
